Espanyol insist on release clause or nothing.

  William Troost-Ekong missed Super Eagles matches under Finidi George but returned in style in the AFCON 2025 qualifier against Benin Republic. The captain of the Nigerian national football team,  William Troost-Ekong , marked  his return to the Super Eagles  with a stellar performance in their recent AFCON 2025 qualifier against Benin Republic. The match,  which ended in a convincing 3-0 victory for Nigeria in Uyo on Saturday , reminded Nigerians of Troost-Ekong's leadership and defensive qualities. The 30-year-old defender  named MVP of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations  had been notably absent from the national team under former coach  Finidi George .
