FIBA U-18 Afrobasket: Nigeria beats Egypt 66-51, advance to semifinal

 

Nigeria's junior D'Tigress are through to the FIBA U-18 Afrobasket semifinal after a 66-51 victory against Egypt.

There is news about Nigeria's youth women's basketball team known as the Junior D'Tigress.

The team has bounced back from two defeats in a sensational outing at the FIBA U-18 women's Afrobasket in South Africa.

Nigeria met up with Egypt in their quarterfinal fixture of the tournament.

This comes after the junior D'Tigress struggled in their group phase games.In the group stage they recorded a 107-30 win against Zimbabwe but suffered a 64-80 loss to their counterparts from Uganda.

In the game against Egypt, the Junior D'Tigress were able to weather the storm to get a 15-point victory.

Victory for Nigeria comes after their issues with the South African embassy about visas.

The Most Valuable Player of the game was Abigail Isaac. The youngster contributed a double-double of 15 points and 12 rebounds, adding two assists.

The win means the junior D'Tigress now advance to the semifinal of the tournament.

They will now need to win their semifinal and final games to advance to the FIFA U-19 Women's World Cup next year.
