I will not rest until Osimhen joins Chelsea — Mikel Obi vows

Super Eagles legend John Mikel Obi has vowed to ensure Victor Osimhne joins Chelsea.

Chelsea legend John Mikel Obi has stated he will do everything within his power to ensure his compatriot Victor Osimhen joins the Blues.

The 25-year-old was involved in a protracted transfer saga this summer, with Chelsea leading the race to sign him for most of the window. Victor was reportedly keen to join the Blues, as Mikel confirmed recently; however, the Premier League side could not match the financial requirements to complete the deal.

With his relationship with Napoli having broken down and the inability to seal a permanent move before the close of the transfer window, a temporary solution was required, and the former Lille man has now joined Galatasaray on a season-long loan deal. However, Mikel stated that Chelsea would return for their man, and he would ensure the deal reaches completion this time.

What Mikel said

The former Middlesbrough midfielder, in his Obi One podcast, provided some insights into the failed Osimhen to Chelsea move. He revealed that he was involved in the deal and rubbished suggestions that the Cappocannoiere-winning striker’s greed was the stumbling block.

He told his co-host that Chelsea would return for the Nigerian striker, and he would work tirelessly to ensure it happens, as Osimhen is one of the best strikers in the world.

“The club is in a very happy place with Victor. Victor is in a happy place with the club. I'm not gonna rest; I want to make sure I get him to the club. Not just because he's my friend or he's my younger brother, or he's Nigerian, no. He is one of the best strikers in the world right now, you know what I mean. He's Africa's best player,” Mikel said.
