Manchester United reveal two exciting new signings as transfers made official
Manchester United have confirmed the signings of Samuel Lusale and James Overy.
United were waiting on Premier League and FA approval for their summer transfer window academy signings of Lusale and Overy to be completed but both have now officially joined the club.
The signing of youth striker Chido Obi-Martin from Arsenal has yet to receive clearance but it's thought there is nothing to worry about, and his move could be completed imminently.
The MEN revealed in June that Overy, who had been subject to Premier League interest since catching the eye playing for Perth Glory's senior side in a pre-season friendly against West Ham last summer when he was aged just 15, had accepted a scholarship deal at the club.
Lusale is the other youngster who has moved to the academy this summer from Crystal Palace. The 16-year-old winger played in Slovakia's three group games at the Under-17 European Championship in May and was in Palace's FA Youth Cup squad last season.
l they received clearance - and they will be in contention to make their debutsUnited's Under-18s are in action against Newcastle this afternoon and Lusale and Overy could make that squad, along with Shea Lacey, who is close to a return from a muscle injury.
The U18s won a treble last season, beating Manchester City to two trophies, and recruiting Lusale, Overy and Obi-Martin will help United maintain an edge in their academy system.
United's academy is regarded as best-in-class and the club's youth scouts are tasked with finding youngsters who could have the potential to make the first team.
Scholarship deals are offered to promising young players and represent a milestone on the way to potentially being offered a professional contract, which can be signed at 17.
